Richard Kutz, MD, MPH

Dr. Richard Kutz, MD, MPH, embodies a rare blend of surgical expertise and a deep commitment to patient-centered care. Graduating summa cum laude from Wilkes University and the Penn State College of Medicine, he honed his skills during a rigorous general surgery residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, where he also pursued a Master of Public Health with a focus on healthcare policy and improvement.

His journey continued at the prestigious Harvard Plastic Surgery Program, where he specialized in plastic surgery, hand surgery, and microsurgery. His training encompassed pediatric plastic surgery at Children’s Hospital Boston and advanced techniques in burn reconstruction at Shriner’s Hospital Boston.

Since joining Plastic + Hand Surgical Associates in 2011, Dr. Kutz has prioritized understanding each patient’s unique concerns, believing that personalized care leads to optimal outcomes. Drawn to the natural beauty of Maine, he finds inspiration in the outdoors, enjoying hiking, camping, and fishing when he’s not in the operating room.
